Football, soccer and cricket at the regional open space
Carine Regional Open Space takes up about a third of the suburb, and its ovals on the corner of Beach Road and Okely Road host Australian rules football and soccer through winter, with cricket nets and a basketball court as well. If someone in your house plays a contact or ball sport there, a mouthguard is worth sorting out well before the first training session.
Children’s mouths keep changing, so check that last season’s guard still fits, or have a new one made.
High school years at Carine Senior High
Carine Senior High School on Everingham Street teaches Years 7 to 12, which means plenty of local teenagers moving through the years when wisdom teeth start to form and braces come and go. An OPG x‑ray, which we take on site, shows developing wisdom teeth and lets us keep an eye on whether they have room to come through.
Weekday appointments run into the late afternoon, so a check‑up can often fit after the school bell rather than taking a student out of class. If your teenager may need braces, we can refer them to a registered specialist in orthodontics and keep up their regular cleans in the meantime. We also encourage older students to ask their own questions in the chair, so they’re ready to look after their teeth independently once school finishes.

Retirement living at Carine Rise
The St Ives Carine retirement village sits in the Carine Rise development, and older Carine residents who wear full or partial dentures, or who are wondering whether implants could help keep a denture steady, are welcome to come in for a review. Dentures that once fitted well can loosen as the gums and bone underneath gradually change, which is often why they start to rub or slip.
We can check the fit, repair cracks or broken teeth on a denture, and talk through implant-retained options where they may suit. Some medicines can leave the mouth dry, which can make dentures less comfortable and raise the risk of decay on any natural teeth, so let us know about your current medications. DVA Gold and White Card holders are welcome.
A Saturday visit after parkrun
Carine Glades parkrun starts at Monyash Reserve at 8am every Saturday. Because we see patients on Saturday mornings, a check‑up or clean can follow on from the run without eating into the working week.
If you sip sports drinks or energy gels on longer runs, it helps to rinse with water afterwards. Many are both sugary and acidic, and frequent sipping can soften enamel over time.
Booking from Carine
Our online booking is open around the clock, or ring the front desk on 08 9447 1514. If you’re new to the practice, mention any recent x‑rays from a previous dentist and we can ask for copies so you don’t need them taken again. If a relative at Carine Rise would like a support person with them in the room, just let us know.

Common questions about visiting from Carine
Should I take Beach Road or North Beach Road from Carine?
It depends which end of Carine you’re in. From the southern streets, North Beach Road is the most direct, carrying straight on across Marmion Avenue into North Beach. From near Carine Glades or the open space, Beach Road west to Marmion Avenue and then south is usually simpler.
When should we get a mouthguard made for winter football?
Well ahead of pre‑season, so it’s ready for the first training session at the Carine open space ovals.
Can you look after the dentures of someone living at a Carine retirement village?
Yes. Appointments are at our surgery in North Beach, where we can check the fit, adjust sore spots and arrange repairs. If getting here is difficult, call us and we’ll work out a time that suits whoever is helping with transport.
Can a high school student come in straight after school?
Yes, our weekday appointments run into the late afternoon, so students at Carine Senior High can usually come in after the bell. Locking in a time early in the term makes it easier to get the slot you want.
Is a check‑up after Saturday parkrun at Monyash Reserve realistic?
Yes. The run starts at 8am and our Saturday session begins at 9am, so a mid‑morning appointment usually works. Reserve a spot a little ahead if you can.
