Diving and snorkelling in Marmion Marine Park
The waters off Marmion form part of Marmion Marine Park, and the Marmion Angling and Aquatic Club has a dive and snorkel trail just offshore from its clubhouse. If you spend time underwater, two dental issues are worth knowing about.
The first is tooth pain during pressure changes, sometimes called tooth squeeze. It usually points to something already going on, such as decay, a leaking filling or a tooth that has recently been treated, where a tiny pocket of air or inflamed tissue reacts as you descend or ascend. A check‑up and x‑rays can often find the cause.
The second is a sore jaw after a long dive or snorkel. Gripping a mouthpiece hard for an extended time can strain the jaw muscles and joint. We can assess your jaw and, where it seems to help, discuss a night splint if clenching carries over into your sleep. If you’ve recently had a tooth removed or other surgery in the mouth, ask your dentist how long to wait before diving again, as it depends on the treatment.
Children at Marmion Primary
Marmion Primary School is the suburb’s state primary school, taking children from kindergarten to Year 6, and older students fall within the Carine Senior High catchment. Primary school is a good time for fissure sealants, a thin protective coating painted into the grooves of back teeth as they come through. We can also show children how to reach the new molars right at the back, which appear around age six and are easy to miss with a brush.
If you have more than one child, ask for consecutive appointments and the whole family can be done in one outing. Families who qualify for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule can use it here, and we’re happy to help confirm eligibility when you book.

A compact suburb with a coastal route south
Marmion is a small, mainly residential suburb, with Braden Park and the Marmion Village shops on Sheppard Way at its heart. With North Beach only a suburb away, a scale and clean can slot in around the school run or a trip to the local shops.
Living close by also makes it easier to keep up six‑monthly visits. Small problems, like an early cavity or a filling with a worn edge, are usually simpler to deal with when they’re picked up at a routine check.
Booking from Marmion
Appointments can be made online whenever suits you, or by phoning 08 9447 1514. If you’re coming for tooth pain linked to diving, tell us when it happens, for example on descent or on the way up, as that helps narrow down the cause. For pain, swelling or a dental injury that can’t wait for a routine visit, we also offer emergency appointments.

Common questions about visiting from Marmion
Can diving off Marmion make my teeth hurt?
It can. Pain when diving is usually a sign of an existing problem, such as decay, a cracked or leaking filling, or a tooth that’s still settling after treatment. If it happens, book a check‑up before your next dive so we can track down what’s behind it.
Is there a bus from Marmion to your surgery?
There is. Route 423 connects Marmion with North Beach by way of Watermans Bay. Transperth’s online tools show which stop is nearest your street and which is closest to the surgery.
My jaw aches after a long snorkel. Is that something you can look at?
Yes. We can examine the jaw joint and muscles, ask about clenching or grinding, and suggest simple steps. If clenching at night seems to be adding to it, we may talk about a custom night splint.
Can I book all my children in one after-school visit?
Yes, ask for back‑to‑back appointments when you call or book online. With Marmion Primary finishing at the same time each day, late-afternoon slots during term are easier to secure if you plan a little ahead.
Marmion is in the City of Joondalup and you’re in the City of Stirling. Does that matter?
Not at all. Council boundaries make no difference to who we see or how health fund claims work. You’re welcome here whichever council you live in.
